The 52 Project

While I can't recall when or where I first came across the 52 Project, I know it was before Leo was born and I remember thinking that it was something I would like to participate in once I had children.

Started by Jodi Wilson of Practising Simplicity, the portrait series is about,
"documenting their fleeting childhood...an honest account of their young, innocent lives."
I also find the series appealing for its deliberate approach to taking photos. Each week I am refining my skills and learning what makes a 'good' shot. As a (very) amateur photographer, the series is a humble reminder that my best photos may not always be the most accomplished but what counts (to me at least) is the story being told.

While I've been sharing my photos on Facebook, I plan to now share them here, hopefully with more of the written story behind each image.

For those who may have missed previous weeks' photos, here they are.

Concentrating while Mimi helps him to balance the ring on his head.

8/52
We knew he was awake because we could hear him chatting and squealing excitedly. This was his face when I walked in to take a photo.

7/52
A short rest mid-play on a Sunday afternoon.

6/52
Daddy's home.

5/52
What happens when I pull this?

4/52
Music on the television distracted him from his own music making.

[A little noisy (read: grainy) but still my favourite from this week]

3/52
Mastering his new standing skills.

2/52
The dirt-stained chin belies his innocent face.
